The Kernel Density Function (KDF) was estimated after taking the log2 scale transformation and Z-score normalization, and was shown in the Heatmap where each row represents the KDF estimated for one sample embryo. (B)-(C) We identified two subgroups of embryo samples through K-means clustering of the KDFs. Intrinsically, one group of 138 samples (group 1) showed relatively broader and higher levels of reporter gene expression pattern than the other group of 115 embryos, for example, in the construct reporter assays performed for the genes irx-1, pgp-5, nob-1 and mir-57 (Image from EPIC database).
